Husam Abdel-Qadir graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto in Canada with the Silver Medal in 2007. He has gone on to complete Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at the University of Toronto.

During his training, Dr. Abdel-Qadir developed an interest in the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease among patients with non-cardiovascular co-morbidities. He is now completing the last year of a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research at the University of Toronto’s Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation. His PhD thesis is focused on the cardiovascular health of breast cancer survivors. He is also pursuing a fellowship in echocardiography at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Abdel-Qadir’s research training is funded by the Canadian Institute for Health Research, and his research thesis is funded by a grant from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. He was recently awarded the 2017 European Society of Cardiology Young Investigator Award in the Clinical Sciences Category.
